The Pacific Garbage Patch

The Pacific Garbage Patch, the popular name given to the trash that has accumulated in the north pacific subtropical gyre, is one of several areas of highly-concentrated marine debris located in the pacific ocean. Ocean and wind currents move in a circular pattern there, creating a vortex that traps and concentrates floating items in ever-increasing amounts.

This spiraling whirlpool of trash between California and Hawaii has captured the imagination of the public—and the attention of the scientific community—since it was first publicized in 1997 by Charles Moore of the Algalita Marine Research Foundation, who came across it while on a sailing trip. The eastern Pacific Garbage Patch is created by one of five ocean gyres worldwide; the Algalita Foundation has conducted extensive research on the Pacific Garbage Patch, and most recently took part in an expedition to the North Atlantic Ocean as part of the new 5 Gyres Initiative to determine if other "garbage patches" are forming; the accumulation of marine debris we have seen in the North Pacific may well be occurring in other ocean realms.

Witnessing the earth environment worsening situation which threatens the mankind living environment of future, as a social enterprise citizen, BaiChuan pays high attention to discarded plastic recycling, adhering to the “environmental protection, low carbon, resources recovery” social responsibility, actively acts as the pioneer of environmental enterprise. The enterprise will engage in the development and exploitation of polyester plastic bottles and other available waste in the future, strive to attain “turn the harmful into the beneficial and waste into valuable”.

Our goal is through “the environmental protection umbrella” to disseminate an environmental consciousness of low carbon, environmental protection, resources recovery to the entire society.

  • Low Carbon - The innovative production technique can reduce the carbon emissions by reducing the electricity consumption.
  • Environmental Protection -An innovative production technique of free printing and dyeing can reduce sewage.
  • Resources Recovery -Each umbrella’s cloth needs 4-6 discard plastic bottles.
We hoped that through a small umbrella can lead more enterprises to participate and manufacture environmental friendly products. Transferring the environmental consciousness into knowledge, and becomes a part of human live behavior.
